2012 Grammy Awards Nominations: Adele and Katy Perry Up for Top Prize

In addition to being up against Katy in the Record of the Year category, Adele also grabs five other nods, putting her one counts behind Kanye West in the nomination collection.The complete nominations for the upcoming 54th annual Grammy Awards have been announced. After a live nominees concert was held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Wednesday, November 30, it is unveiled that Adele and Katy Perry are among those vying for the top prize.
Adele and Katy will go head-to-head in the Record of the Year category. They also face competition from Bruno Mars, Bon Iver and Mumford & Sons. The “Rolling in the Deep” singer, however, collects more nods than the “Firework” hitmaker by grabbing six counts in total.
The British singer is also up for the coveted Album of the Year and Song of the Year as well as other categories that include Best Pop Vocal Album for “21″. She trails behind 14-time Grammy winner Kanye West, who leads this year’s nominations with seven nods in total.
Other musicians who bag multiple nominations include Bruno Mars and Foo Fighters, who score six nods each. Rapper Lil Wayne and electro pop artist Skrillex follow behind with five. Meanwhile, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Radiohead, Bon Iver and Mumford & Sons grab four nods each.
Hosted by LL Cool J, the nominations concert include performances from Jason Aldean, Justin Bieber, The Band Perry, Lady GaGa, Rihanna and Sugarland among others. Winners of 2012 Grammys, meanwhile, will be announced during a live ceremony on February 12, 2012 at the Staples Center, Los Angeles. Full nomination list can be obtained on Grammy official site.
