Charlie Sheen’s ‘Anger Management’ Picked Up By FX

Charlie Sheen’s new series, Anger Management, has been picked up by FX, which airs Sons of Anarchy and Elijah Woods Wilfred, among other shows.
The sitcom based on the 2003 Adam Sandler/Jack Nicholson film of the same name, will begin airing in the Summer of 2012, FX confirmed on Thursday. Production on the new show begins next year and will be helmed by Executive Producer and showrunner Bruce Helford, whose credits include The George Lopez Show and The Drew Carey Show.

We think that Bruce Helford, Joe Roth and Charlie Sheen have come up with a wonderful, hilarious vehicle for Charlies acting talents and a character we are very much looking forward to seeing him play, said John Landgraf, President and General Manager of FX Networks. Two and a Half Men has been an outstanding component of FXs schedule for the past 14 months, and we have every confidence that Anger Management will soon be as well.
So far, the network has ordered 10 episodes of the comedy. Under the same syndication model that Tyler Perry pioneered with his TBS sitcom Meet the Browns, FX plans to pick up an additional 90 episodes of Anger Management, which will air exclusively on FX until going into broader syndication on other networks in 2014.
