Chris Hansen Cheating Scandal: Is “Dateline” Reporter Having Affair With NBC’s Kristyn Caddell?

To Catch a Predator? More like to Snag a Scumbag! Journalist Chris Hansen — perhaps best known for his investigative pieces To Catch a Predator and To Catch an Identity Thief for NBC newsmagazine Dateline –has found himself the subject of an investigation; Tattling squeals say the very married Hansen, 51, has been doing the Mattress Mambo with a pretty blonde reporter about 30 years his junior.

You heard right, ‘Crunchers: Everyone’s favorite Sheriff of the Pedo Patrol has been on the prowl unbeknownst to his wife, Mary. Chris joins The TODAY Show’s Matt Lauer as the latest NBC newsman to stand accused of scoring in other woman’s court. And apparently, there’s proof. A sting operation set up by those pesky National Enquirer reporters secretly recorded Chris, a seven-time Emmy winner, entering a Florida hotel looking a little too lovey-dovey with Kristyn Caddell, a news anchor at the local NBC affiliate WPTV. That was June 24. At a later date, Hansen was spied spending the night at Caddell’s Palm Beach crib, from which he emerged the following morning — doing the proverbial “Walk of Shame” in the same clothes he wore a day prior.

Hansen lives in Connecticut with his wife and two children, but he has been spending more and more time in South Florida investigating the disappearance of James ‘Jimmy T’ Trindade — a avid sailor lost at sea several years ago — and allegedly sleeping with Miss Caddell.

“Chris sends Kristyn flowers and tells her he loves her, but he still doesn’t seem all that motivated to leave his wife for her. He’s telling her he loves his wife too, but they’ve grown apart over the years, and she’s not sure what he should do,” a loose-tongued informant whispers on the pages of the July 11 issue of The National Enquirer.

Even PEOPLE Magazine has dug up a snoop who seems to support The Enquirer’s claim of a four month affair between the reporters: “Chris Hansen and Kristyn and have been hooking up for months.”

Hansen has worked for NBC for two decades, but became famous with his controversial To Catch a Predator Dateline specials. The show’s producers worked with online watchdog group Perverted-Justice, whose volunteers pose as underage kids offering sex on the internet. When men arrived to meet the teens they thought they’d been talking to online, they find themselves confronted by Hansen, his film crew, and oftentimes the police.
