Jimmy Buffett Stage Fall Sends Singer To Hospital With Head Injury
Man Down! Singer Jimmy Buffett is nursing a bloddy head injury after he fell off stage during a performance in Australia this week.
Witnesses say the “Cheeseburger in Paradise” singer, 64, may have been temporarily blinded by flashing lights when he stumbled off the edge of the stage and tumbled to the ground mid-song on Tuesday night. In his first tour of Australia in 20 years. Buffett had performed three back-to-back sold-out shows Hordern Pavilion before the fateful tumble. Concertgoers describe Buffet’s horrific fall as “a massive face plant,” which left Jimmy motionless and bleeding from the head. The singer’s fans were told to go home after he was taken to the hospital, but many were too shaken up to leave after spotting a large gash on Jimmy’s head.
Frazzled audience member Dan Bateman, 30, tells The Daily Telegraph that Buffett fell off the stage face first. “We were in the 10th row and it looked like he did a massive face plant after his encore and pretty much didn’t get up,” he recalls. “We were told to leave the premises. No one really wanted to leave because everyone was anxious to know if he survived the fall. Everyone was pretty horrified.”
The singer is best known for his hit single “Margaritaville.” He is also a best-selling author and restauranteur.
Buffet remains hospitalized in stable condition at St. Vincent Hospital in Sydney as doctors determine the severity of his injuries.
