Katy Perry Cancels Appearance at 2012 People’s Choice Awards
Although she receives the most nominations this year, the ‘One That Got Away’ hitmaker decides to scrap her plan to come to the annual show in Los Angeles.Katy Perry has announced that she won’t be attending the 38th annual People’s Choice Awards despite previous announcement confirming her appearance at the event. The “Teenage Dream” hitmaker took to Twitter on January 9 to reveal her absence from the award-giving show.
Katy stated on her Monday tweet, “Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the People’s Choice Awards.” The chart-topping singer also thanked her fans for their support. She posted, “I want to thank u all for voting for me, fingers crossed! #KATYCATS.”
Katy is nominated for seven nods at the PCAs; Favorite Animated Movie Voice, Favorite TV Guest Star, Favorite Song of the Year, Favorite Music Video, Favorite Pop Artist, Favorite Tour Headliner, and Favorite Female Artist. Her appearance at the January 11 show was supposed to be her first red-carpet outing since splitting from Russell Brand.
Though canceling her PCAs appearance, Katy is still scheduled to perform at the last two remaining concerts of her California Dreams Tour. She’s scheduled to perform in Indonesia on January 19 and in Philippines on January 22. She’s also invited to the 54th annual Grammy Awards where she’s up for Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.
