Kim Kardashian Bucks Tradition; Tosses Top-Tier Of Wedding Cake
They’ll never accuse Kim Kardashian of being a traditional bride. The socialite has defied tradition by throwing away the top tier of her wedding cake.
When the 30-year-old reality star tied the knot with Kris Humphries in a lavish ceremony last month, the black and white ten-tier cake was a star attraction. Custom typically calls for the bride and groom to keep the top tier of the cake to use as a treat on their first anniversary or another appropriate celebration, Kris and Kim’s winded up in the nearest wastebasket. The chocolate and vanilla wedding cake was made by celebrity bakers Hansen’s and was said to be worth up to $ 20,000.
“I was shocked when I found it,” says a worker who helped clean up the $ 29 million Montecito, California estate where the Kardashian nups were held on Aug. 20. “There it was, one of the highest-priced cakes at a wedding ever, removed from all its glory and discarded s just another piece of trash. I couldn’t help but shake my head and laugh.”
