Liam Hemsworth Finds It Cool Francis Lawrence Will Direct ‘Catching Fire’
Though excited about the prospect of filming ‘Hunger Games’ sequel with Francis, the boyfriend of Miley Cyrus admits that he’s ‘really sad’ that original director Gary Ross has to go.Liam Hemsworth has broken his silence on the director shakeup of “Catching Fire” sequel. When met at City Year’s second annual Spring Break event over the weekend, the Australian actor told E! Online that he’s looking forward to working with new director Francis Lawrence, but is saddened by Gary Ross’ exit.
“The last I heard the new director [Lawrence] had just come on, so that’s really cool,” the boyfriend of Miley Cyrus first stated. “I’m excited about that. I think we shoot the last few months of this year.” Though so, he was quick to note, “I’m really sad to see that Gary’s not going to be part of the second one. He did such an amazing job on the first.”
Staying optimistic over the sequel of “The Hunger Games”, the younger brother of Chris Hemsworth pointed out, “I think that there’s still so many people a part of it that want the film to be great and care about it so much that they’re not going to bring the wrong person on.”
Francis took on the director seat of “Catching Fire” after Ross opted not to return for the follow-up film because of a “fixed and tight production schedule”. In late April, leading man Josh Hutcherson weighed in on the change of director as saying, “Francis Lawrence is extremely talented. I’ve heard he’s the nicest guy in the world. I’m really excited to see what he’s going to do with it.”
In “Catching Fire” that is set to open wide in the U.S. on November 22, 2013, Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark are getting punished for their defiance. They will be forced to compete in a special 75th staging of the Hunger Games, where they must compete against past winners. Along with Liam and Josh, lead actress Jennifer Lawrence is expected to make her return as Katniss.
