Nick Lachey, Vanessa Minnillo Lachey Having a Baby
Well, it looks like the folks over at Blind Gossip know their stuff: Just a week after buzz surfaced claiming that Nick Lachey and his wife Vanessa Minnillo Lachey are expecting their first child together, the former boy bander decided to make the news official as he took the co-host seat on Live! with Kelly on Monday morning.
Nick announced that Vanessa, 31, learned that she was pregnant in January, the same day she appeared on the show for a Zumba segment.
“Later that night, she was in New York and I was in the Bahamas…She went to the store and got a pregnancy test and it came back positive. We’re having a baby!”
He joked:
“I’m here to tell you the stage here is a very fertile place. This is the one thing that more than any other I’ve looked forward to…It’s overwhelming.”
Nick and Vanessa are still waiting to learn the sex of the baby.
They’ve even talk about names a little bit: Sophia and Colin John (CJ) have risen to the top of the heap.
And at just 12 weeks along, Vanessa’s already heavy into cravings:
“She loves Mexican food. She could eat a burrito every day of the week,” Nick quipped.
Nick and Vanessa — former teen beauty queen and host of MTV’s TRL — first met on the set of the crooner’s “What’s Left of Me” music video in 2006. They were married on Richard Branson’s Necker Island in July 2011.
The Lachey tot is due in the “late summer, early fall.”
Nick’s ex-wife and former Newlyweds co-star Jessica Simpson is also expecting. Simpson is due to deliver her first son with fiance Eric Johnson any day now.
