People’s Choice Awards 2012: Nina Dobrev and Chloe Moretz Win Their First Trophies
The leading lady of ‘The Vampire Diaries’ gets Favorite TV Drama Actress at the 38th annual PCAs, while the ‘Hugo’ starlet scores Favorite Movie Star Under 25.The winners of the 38th People’s Choice Awards have been announced in a star-studded ceremony on Wednesday, January 11. Nina Dobrev and Chloe Moretz were among the victorious stars who took home coveted trophies. This marked the first time ever the Elena of “The Vampire Diaries” and the Isabelle of “Hugo” got PCAs prizes.
Nina was voted Favorite TV Drama Actress, thanks to her dual portrayal of Elena and Katherine in “The Vampire Diaries”. She said, “I wasn’t even initially nominated, at all. I wasn’t on the ballot. But you guys wrote, and wrote, and continued to write in so many angry things that they caved in and gave me a nomination, and now I won. So, god, thank you. Seriously.”
Chloe, meanwhile, took home the title of Favorite Movie Star Under 25. Humbled by her win, she said she couldn’t believe she won over Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint and Tom Felton. “I can’t even imagine that I’m in the same category as the whole Harry Potter cast, and I won. That’s weird,” she gushed.
Another big winner was Katy Perry, who unfortunately wasn’t present at the event. The “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” hitmaker scored five kudos in total. She was named Favorite Female Artist and received four other trophies for Favorite TV Guest Star, Favorite Music Video, Favorite Song of the Year, and Favorite Tour Headliner.
The other winners were Lea Michele, Emma Stone, Demi Lovato, and Taylor Swift. The Rachel Berry of “Glee” brought home Favorite TV Comedy Actress, the Gwen Stacy of “The Amazing Spider-Man” was named Favorite Comedic Movie Actress, and the “Speak Now” hitmaker was crowned Favorite Country Artist.
