Rep Shots Down Speculation of Miley Cyrus Cutting Herself
Despite a photo which shows the ‘LOL’ actress with what seems to be self-inflicted injuries on her wrist, a representative for the former Disney starlet insists ‘there is no truth to the story.’Miley Cyrus has been hit with rumor that she may be self harming after a new photo showed her inner arm sporting what appears to be scars from cutting. Not letting the report run wilder, her representative quickly debunked it by telling HollywoodLife, “There is no truth to the story.”
The “Can’t Be Tamed” songstress was photographed with scratches on her left wrist while walking her dog on Monday, April 2. Some experts have weighed in on the photo, and all agreed that those scars seem to be caused by self-cutting.
“Based on the picture alone, those do look like cuts,” Lori Vann, Lic. Professional Counselor Supervisor in Dallas, commented. “The location (on non-dominant arm, underside of forearm), the length of the cuts, the lines of the cuts, and the spacing all appear to be self-inflicted injuries.”
Dr. Jeff Gardere, chief contributor to HealthGuru.com, supported Lori’s statement as saying, “That looks like self-cutting. It looks like it, we don’t know for sure, but it looks like old scars.” Another expert who often deals with victims of self-harm, Dr. Gilda, added, “It looks like she has been cutting.”
Additionally, Wendy Lader, President of S.A.F.E. Alternatives which is committed to help someone end self-injurious behavior, chimed in, “Since we have not met Ms. Cyrus, all we can say is that the injuries in the picture are consistent with other self-injurers that we, at S.A.F.E. Alternatives have treated.”
