Hmmm….Good intentions may not be the only thing prompting newlywed Katy Perry to enlist her 90-year-old grandmother, rather than her comedian husband Russell Brand, as an escort at this weekend’s 2011 Grammy Awards.
Just three months after an elaborate Indian wedding, complete with lions and tigers (Sorry, no bears…), Word on the Curb has it that the whirlwind union between Katy and Russell has already hit a rough patch. The “Teenage Dream” singer is looking to hire a marriage counselor as the couple continue living increasingly separate lives, snooping insiders told Life & Style this week.
“In January, just weeks before launching her worldwide tour, Katy ‘started asking friends to recommend a marriage counselor….’” the mag writes.
Indications of trouble first manifested themselves shortly after Brand Tweeted an unflattering picture of his makeup-free wife — looking like a different person of a different gender — online last December. It was then that Katy realized her relationship may need some attention, according to the L&S snoop.
Katy spoke highly of her young union in an interview with Elle Magazine’s March issue, on newsstands now. She said: “Everything clicked really fast. We kind of instantly got past all the surfacey stuff. And ever since then, there hasnt been a dull moment. We both needed balance, and we give that to each other. It wasnt about me taming him, which is what everyone always saysit was about timing.
