Susan Lucci On “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno” For First Interview Since “AMC” Was Cancelled

Soap opera icon Susan Lucci ventured over to the City of Angels on Friday night for chat with The Tonight Show’s Jay Leno. It was the petite sixtysomething’s first interview since ABC bosses pulled the plug on All My Children earlier this month. The daytime drama that turned Pine Valley’s Erica Kane into a sudster legend has been cancelled after 40 years and Lucci says she was downright gobsmacked when the network brought down the axe, citing company budget cuts.

Lucci also gabbed about the upcoming surprises set to unfold in the final weeks of All My Children and rumors that she’s joining the cast of Desperate Housewives.

A food-themed talkshow, The Chew, and a makeover show, The Revolution, will replace One Live to Life and All My Children on ABC’s daytime schedule when the soaps sign off in Sept. 2011 and Jan. 2012, respectively.
