Taylor Swift Gives Second Largest Donation to Country Hall of Fame

The ‘Fearless’ singer donates $ 4 million which will be used to build Taylor Swift Education Center that aims to provide more music education programs.Taylor Swift has donated $ 4 million to Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. The museum will use the fund to build Taylor Swift Education Center, which will support its efforts in developing new youth education programs.
Swift’s education center is scheduled to open in 2014. It is part of the museum’s building expansion project and the new convention center project in downtown Nashville. It will be two-story high, and consist of three classrooms as well as an exhibit space.
In the future, the museum will start new programs and workshops for teens and senior citizens. It will also conduct interactive activities, such as a musical petting zoo and a “wet” classroom space to make concert posters and other art projects.
The museum’s director Kyle Young told The Associated Press, “It [Swift's donation] will allow us serve more people, develop new programs and I’m happy to say that as we talked through this opportunity with Taylor, she very much wants to be involved in an advisory capacity in what we do.”
Young further praised the 22-year-old singer for her contribution in the development of the new space. The museum’s director said, “By stepping forward to fund our education center, she has once again demonstrated that she has an eye on our industry’s future.”
The museum’s officials said that the “Back to December” songstress’ donation is the largest fund given to the museum by an artist. It is also the second largest from an individual.
Prior to making the $ 4 million donation, Swift has had a long history with the museum. She had one of her first public performances on the building’s plaza and signed her record contract there.
