The CW Brings Down the Axe on “90210″
Say buh-bye to TV’s favorite zip code: The CW is ending 90210 after five seasons.
The show premiered in the Fall of 2008 as a remake of the smash 1990s teen soap Beverly Hills, 90210. The reincarnated 90210 made celebs of series stars, like Tristan Wilds, Shenae Grimes and AnnaLynne McCord, and reflected on the current realities of life at West Beverly Hills High.
“The CW has had five great seasons with America’s favorite zip code, 90210. I’d like to thank the talented cast, producers and crew for all their hard work and dedication to the series. We are very proud of the West Beverly High alumni.”
Dismal ratings appears to be the culprit behind the cancellation: 90210 has only averaged about 1.23 million viewers this season, according to TVLine.com. Earlier this week, producers announced that Prince Michael Jackson I — the eldest son of pop legend Michael Jackson — will make his acting debut on the show’s series finale.
The drama wraps May 13.
