The Donald vs. DeNiro Over Obama Birth Certificate
It’s The Donald vs. DeNiro in the latest celebrity feud to fallout from businessman magnate Donald Trump’s relentless pursuit of President Barack Obama’s “real” birth certificate.
The possible 2012 Republican candidate for president has alienated a host of industry heavyweights — among them Whoopi Goldberg, Bill Cosby, and Jerry Seinfeld — with his candid criticism of The White House. Now Raging Bull star Robert DeNiro has become the latest star to diss presidential wannabe Trump for questioning Obama’s citizenship. The Oscar winner has blasted Trump for not checking his facts before making such claims publicly.
“I won’t mention names, but certain people in the news . . . they’re making statements about people that they don’t even back up. It’s like a big hustle. It’s like being a car salesman. Don’t go out there and say things unless you can back them up,” DeNiro told NBC News’ Brian Williams in a TriBeca Film Festival promo interview last week. How did we get to this point? This is crazy. And I know Obama was trying to bridge the gap. His intentions are really good. Maybe some things are not as good as we all would like, but his intentions were right. A lot of these guys, theyre intentions are not even good. Theyre just playing the game. And theyre playing with peoples lives.
Trump returned fire at De Niro on FOX & Friends Monday, calling the critically-acclaimed actor “not the brightest bulb on the planet.”
