THG Presents: The Most Memorable Songs of 2010

Below is THG’s most favoritest songs of 2010. These are tracks we can’t get out of our heads, and ones that stand out most as we reflect on the past year.

Before we unveil the top ten, here are a handful of disclaimers:

  • We did not say “best,” nor are we implying this speaks for everyone.
  • It’s just one site’s take, and we encourage you to submit your own.
  • Yes, we are aware Ke$ ha, Miley and Justin Bieber do not appear.

Rihanna and Cee-Lo Green both ended up on THG’s list … and near the top to boot. Who joined them among our top ten jams of ’10? Find out after the jump!

10. Taio Cruz, “Dynamite”

You will likely forget Taio Cruz’s name by this time next year. If you even knew it to begin with. But the man throws his hands up in the air sometimes. That is all.

9. Robyn, “Dancing On My Own”

For those who feel the need to dance and cry simultaneously.

8. Michael Jackson feat. Akon, “Hold My Hand”

Posthumous, previously-unreleased tracks are bad, more often than not. This one somehow strikes us as worthy of Michael Jackson’s legacy and message.

Plus, how can you not appreciate the video they put together to accompany it?

7. Kanye West feat. Jay-Z & Nicki Minaj, “Monster”

For all Kanye’s non-musical headline-making abilities, he delivered a “Monster” track on My Beautfiul Dark Twsted Fantasy. Jay-Z and Nicki Minaj are great on it, too.

6. Lady Gaga feat. Beyoncé, “Telephone”

With a truly epic video (even referencing the hermaphrodite rumors), killer beats and a tandem effort for the ages, “Telephone” left an impression and then some.

5. Usher feat. Will.i.am, “OMG”

Two bona fide hitmakers. Dance, pop and R&B fused? A song with seamless, catchy tempo changes and a chorus you end up humming for hours? Recipe for a hit.

4. Katy Perry, “Teenage Dream”

“I Kissed a Girl” and “California Gurls” got annoying after awhile. “Teenage Dream” hit the mark with its ’80s feel and makes you wanna stay young forever.

You’ll always be ours, Katy.

3. Cee-Lo Green, “F–k You”

Combining the ultimate kiss-off with a soaring, upbeat delivery was enough to get some buzz, but the song is actually good too – enough to earn Cee-Lo a Grammy nomination. Plus, how much do you want to sing this to someone in your life?

2. Florence + The Machine, “Dog Days Are Over”

Florence Welch’s vocals are simply off the charts, and the band’s biggest hit so far is one of those anthems that just makes you feel amazing inside.

1. Eminem feat. Rihanna, “Love the Way You Lie”

Eminem’s lyrical genius has never been questioned, but this duet with Rihanna elevated both artists to new heights. With these heavyweights doing what they do best, it’s hard not to get chills up the spine when you listen to it.

The song about the pain and lies that take place as a relationship falls apart, with strong undertones of violence made more striking after what happened to Rihanna, proves why Eminem is not just a talented rapper, but a legendary performer.
